How is it different from an AI policy template?
- A real Word document. Fifteen questions in, you download an editable .docx with your organisation on the title page and clauses that match how you actually work.
- Written for the UK. UK GDPR and ICO framing throughout, with the EU AI Act mentioned only where it genuinely reaches you. A UK-only business gets a policy that does not cite obligations it does not have.
- Your answers stay in your browser. The document is built on your device. We never receive your answers, and we never store them. The only thing we keep is the email address you give us to send your copy to.
What is in the AI policy?
Eleven or twelve sections, depending on your answers: regulated sectors get an extra one naming their regulator. Everything is plain English in the second person, because a policy nobody reads governs nothing.

Does my UK company need an AI policy?
There is no UK law that says "you must have an AI policy". There are laws that make the absence of one expensive: UK GDPR makes you accountable for personal data your staff paste into consumer tools, and confidentiality obligations to clients do not pause because a tool was convenient. A short policy that people actually follow is the cheapest control you can put in place.
Does the EU AI Act apply to a UK business?
Sometimes. The Act reaches providers and deployers established outside the EU where an AI system is used in the Union, or where its output is used there. A UK company with EU customers, staff or operations may well be in scope; a UK-only company usually is not. This generator asks, and only includes the Article 4 AI-literacy clause when your answer supports it.
What should an AI policy actually contain?
At minimum: which tools are approved and on what account tiers, what data must never be entered into them, who checks AI-assisted work before it leaves the building, how someone requests a new tool, what to do when something goes wrong, and who owns the policy. Everything else is detail.
Do you store my answers?
No. The document is generated in your browser and never reaches our servers. We store the contact details you enter at the download step so we can email you a copy, and nothing about your organisation, tools or data.
